Computer Aided Drawings, otherwise known as CAD, is one of the most important departments at Thorburns, as without them no building would exist. We have a team of skilled designers who specialise in designing your desired steel framed building. Between their years of experience and intelligent software, they can create accurate drawings of what the final project will look like, helping you to visualise your ideas.

What does the design process look like?
1. The process starts with you explaining your ideas to our sales team, who will pass this on to your project manager and our head designer.
2. They will then come out to site to survey the area, take levels and ensure the building will work in the proposed area.
3. Once completed, they will then head back to the office and draw up the building.
4. The team will send you elevations and a 3D modelled drawing to approve for fabrication. This is also an opportunity for you to make any desired changes. Ensure you are happy with the details, or if there are any further adaptations you would like to make to future proof your building.
5. Once approved, the team will draw up the building ready for fabrication.
